Tomorrow sees Charlton visit the Ricoh, in a game which could result in them being relegated to League One. The UCC will be out in force, with various parents and financees in tow, in what promises to be a humdinger of a game.
Worth a moment to reflect on May 2008, where our visit to the Valley (pre-blog) ended in relegation being avoided by the skin of our teeth. Then, we were awful, truly awful. Charlton were good, and demolished us 4-1, but on reflection it is indeed a funny old game. Almost 12 months on, Charlton have had an abysmal season, and are a shadow of the team which made us look like a Scouts under 12 team. How exactly they can be bottom of the Championship and losing games for fun is inexplicable. Inexplicable, but amusing.
It could have been us, but Arson and the Coalman have us pointing in the right direction. We're not there yet, but next season has the makings of a proper push for the Premiership. We will see. Prediction for the game tomorrow is 4-0, with Wheels on your house finally getting a goal.
